Cersaie 2024 confirms the show’s crucial status in the architecture and design world.
This year it once again stunned visitors with fascinating innovations focused on sustainability, aesthetics and functionality, reflecting constant evolution looking to the future of the global market.

Cersaie Bologna maintained its strong focus on innovations, with creativity and solutions that give a foretaste of tomorrow’s trends.
In this context, FAP captured visitors’ attention by highlighting the inspirations behind its collections: the creative concepts and moodboards that reveal the poetic, artisanal origin of every new ceramic series.

A Mediterranean holiday

Vento del Sud is an invitation to discover the lands and landscapes central to the Italian identity.

The new porcelain stoneware collection is inspired by white stone walls enclosing marvellous Mediterranean gardens filled with the fragrant scents of figs, lemons, citrus blossoms, and aromatic herbs.

Flawed, authentic materials, a blend of artisanal skill and natural allure, designed to create interiors where beauty and the slow lifestyle can be cultivated.

«In my opinion, this “room”, dedicated to the concept of Italian identity and tradition, which you’ve chosen to interpret with inspiration from southern Italy, should really try to transport visitors into that mood, to make them feel for a moment that they’re on holiday or are surrounded by the context of beauty (and not just of landscape) the whole world associates with our country.
If you’ve chosen to link a trend to this concept then you believe in the force of Italian Style and the Italian Way of Life, a kind of brand within the brand, a guarantee of craftsmanship and the art of experiencing and cultivating beauty.
So I’m convinced that the best way to transport your customers into a mood of Italianness and southern Italy is to underline this powerful facet of the concept, even going so far as to create a real Mediterranean garden.
A place where visitors are welcomed, not just by the beauty of the location but also by the fragrance of citrus blossoms and aromatic herbs, where the dark green of the Mediterranean vegetation meets the colourful plenty of prickly pears.
Therefore, I advise you to design the entire space with herbs, a few Mediterranean plants/flowers, perhaps a citrus or olive tree in a pot - not to mention Prickly Pear leaves (or a whole plant) - distributed right across it .... naturally, I suggest you use large terracotta or stone pots. I’m letting my imagination take wing, but I can visualise a space where this blend of Italian craftsmanship and the country’s rich Nature is obvious wherever you look.»

A journey from Japan to Scandinavia

Plein Air celebrates the encounter between Japanese aesthetics and Nordic design, laying the foundations for a unique style, warm yet austere, which ranges from classical to extremely modern with Biophilic Design as lowest common denominator.
A wood-effect porcelain stoneware collection with all the genuine beauty of this material: knots, veining, flaws and tactile sensations that convey all the energy of a forest and the fragrance of its trees.

«When I started to think about a possible flower for the Japandi “world”, I immediately found myself visualising a specific type of flower, with a long, stiff stem acting as a solid base, supporting a rich, round, full, soft flower. A flower that’s a visual combination of two elements as simple as they are fundamental in geometry (and thus in design): the straight line and the circle. On the one hand, a straight line representing symmetry, the determination to create order, to organise and to draw a boundary. On the other the circle, which symbolically expresses the entire life cycle, infinite, without a beginning or an end, evoking softness, the comfort of a nest, a protected space.
My choice is based on the apparent dichotomy between these two perfectly simple forms.
I see the meeting of the straight line and the circle as emblematic of the encounter between the Japanese and Scandinavian styles. In fact, Japandi stands not only for order and harmony, interiors with simple, austere forms and no decorative excess, but also for warmth and a sense of well-being and welcome.
I think the flower that comes closest to this idea is Craspedia, which is also yellow, meaning it’s sure to look good with the colours you’ve chosen for Japandi.
The cotton flower is a good alternative and also more common, so it’s easier to source».

Diving into colour

Color Drench means immersing yourself in colour, losing yourself amidst a thousand different shades…
A collection of white-body Wall Tiles that invites you to create your own colour scenario, colour blocks, matching and clashing with in-line decors and structures.
Rich in colour, it has a rich texture, too, achieved through artisanal experimentation that transforms the ceramic surface into fascinating patterns and scored lines.

«For the Color Drench zone I was looking for a large, exuberant flower with lots of petals, which would catch the eyes of visitors to the stand and overwhelm them with colour.
One possibility might be Celosia Argentea Plumosa, which struck me both with its unusual shape and with its very bright, saturated colours. The best colour for all the Color Drench rooms might be bright orange or the red version.
Another very attractive flower, also very colourful and with lots of petals, is the Japanese chrysanthemum. It’s also known as the flower of the 1000 petals .... it’s a flower that symbolises life and abroad is generally presented as a gift to celebrate the birth of children, although in Italy, quite incorrectly, it’s considered a flower linked to death and mourning (this might be because it lasts so long even when it’s cut and put in a vase). For the chrysanthemum I thought of a yellow version (shown in the photo), or perhaps pink, or purple if you can find it.
The last alternative is the Giant Dahlia. Very colourful and with a very large number of petals, as the name suggests the giant dahlia is a big, resplendent flower. It’s a flower grown in many different colours, but I think the version in a peachy orange colour would be right for your purpose»

Design innovations

The innovations presented at Cersaie 2024 also included the new series of porcelain stoneware shower trays with curvy oval shapes that fit perfectly flush with the floor to provide beauty, safety and excellent performance.
They’re almost like decor tiles for the bathroom, expanding the FAP+ offering.
Last but not least, an amazing surface: a porcelain stoneware with a perfect mirror finish that looks like the natural transfiguration of the Gemme slab.
