Alcova is the avant-garde exhibition of Fuorisalone, dedicated to independent and experimental design. An itinerant platform in ephemeral and unconventional spaces that are cooler than ever! it is recognized as "the space for emerging design".

At Alcova 2026, Fap continues this experimentation, transforming ceramics into living architecture. Matter generates emotion, identity and new possibilities for contemporary spaces.

A MATTER OF MATTER
An immersive experience that explores the expressive potential of ceramics

For this year’s Milan Design Week, Fap ceramiche returns to Alcova with A Matter of Matter, an immersive installation that probes the relationship between matter, light and perception.

Reflective surfaces and metallic highlights capture and multiply the daylight, while bright finishes expand the interiors’ perceived size. Three-dimensional patterns generate depth and variety and smooth and tactile surfaces combine in harmony, creating a continual dialogue between light and shade.

A fascinating and atmospheric
location

The project "A Matter of Matter" is housed in the church of the old Baggio Military Hospital, a fascinating location that combines religious architecture with wild natural vegetation, generating an intense dialogue between the built environment and the landscape.

In this context, ceramics become a vibrant, dynamic creative language. The installation is constructed as a set of sculpture-like forms that occupy space and invite visitors to explore the expressive qualities of matter.

Ceramics become
a responsive presence.

A Matter of Matter reflects Fap’s conception of ceramics as contemporary design matter, able to supersede their traditional cladding function to become part of the architecture and its storytelling.

Ceramics are no longer just a surface but rather a responsive presence: a matter that can be explored slowly, able to access emotional pathways, in which visual perception and tactile experience merge.
